General Neurology & Acute Stroke
Access Physicians’ neurologists provide custom programs ranging from backup telemedicine coverage to fully staffing a telemedicine neurology, stroke, epilepsy, imaging, and outpatient clinic.
Access Physicians’ neurologists services deliver general neurological consultation and follow-up care. Our neurologists respond to any consultation that a primary team requests, including altered mentation and history of stroke.
Through Access Physicians’ Acute Stroke services, we provide immediate emergency department or inpatient acute stroke consultation. This allows for rapid diagnostic and therapeutic decisions by a board-certified stroke neurologist. Our stroke neurologists are comfortable operating in and placing orders in hospitals’ EMRs, specifically for tPA (tissue plasminogen activator).
The saying “Time is Brain” in stroke care is the core tenet by which our stroke neurologists operate. They must answer 100 percent of phone calls in less than 5 minutes. For emergent consultations, the physician must connect to telemedicine software within 10 minutes or less after disconnecting from the initial call.
Our stroke team has improved outcomes and decreased transfers at all sites where they operate and help hospitals acquire or retain Primary Stroke Certification.
Through Access Physicians’ outpatient telemedicine solutions, clinics have access to neurologists for initial and follow-up visits for patients with a number of neurological conditions, including:
- Alzheimer’s or other cognitive disorders
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Memory difficulties
- Movement disorders
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Neuromuscular disease
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Seizure disorders
